About this role:

In nearly three years since its launch, data.org has built its strong digital presence with a distinctive brand, a robust digital platform, and an effective content strategy. The new role Product Content Specialist will be primarily focused on the next stage of feature, metadata, and content development for the digital platform. As a member of a high-performing team, including product, analytics, and marketing capabilities, this role will work closely with our software development partner to create a product that supports the needs of the broader social impact community, from funders to nonprofits. This role requires strong writing skills, experience understanding and acting upon the analytics, and deep understanding of and passion for social impact organizations.

As a fully remote and global organization, data.org seeks individuals with strong communication, prioritization, and collaboration skills. This is a strong individual contributor role that is a self-starter and works collaboratively across the data.org and its partner and stakeholder organizations. The ability to lead by influence is vital to the success of this role.

The Product Content Specialist will report to the Chief Marketing & Product Officer, and work in close collaboration with colleagues in communications, design, software development, and analytics roles. This is a one-year term position from August 1, 2023, or date of hire with a preferred location of Pacific, Mountain, Central or Eastern time zones. Must be able and willing to travel internationally.

What you’ll do

  • Curate, edit, and create written content for data.org digital platform, including resources, playbooks and other learning materials, with a focus on serving social impact organizations
  • Support digital product strategy through execution of content creation, curation, tagging and measurement
  • Contribute to cross-functional business planning and stakeholder updates for select
  • website/digital product initiatives
  • Assist with the prioritization of feature and content development in order to achieve organizational goals
  • Identify user needs, build mechanisms for gathering user feedback, and ensure insights guide product decisions
  • Regularly contribute to reporting and discussion of the product’s performance
  • Maintain documentation for feature development and planning for content review
  • Other duties as assigned as the digital product and organization evolve

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-4 years working on a website or digital product with revenue and brand KPIs
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Track record of building high-impact user features for acquisition, findability and/or user engagement
  • Understanding of product life cycle, from concept to design, development, deployment, optimization, and maintenance
  • Experience working with agile teams and frameworks (scrum and/or Kanban) and prioritizing features/activity for product management and tech teams
  • Analyze the customer feedback and use it to build the products better
  • Experience working with complex content workflows
  • Hands-on digital analytics experience, including KPI definition and ongoing measurement
  • Ability to work in a startup environment, balancing the need of the product with the need to shift and evolve as the organization develops
  • Fundamental project management skills and competency
  • Experience on global remote teams and with consultants a plus
